Draft document, pending legal review
This is an initial draft provided for transparency. It has not been reviewed by a qualified lawyer and is not legal advice. Last updated: October 4, 2026.
The short version
Your file is read, converted and downloaded entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded to us. We do not receive its contents, its name, or any result you produce. What happens to the request for a page on its way here is the hosting provider’s own business, and this policy says what it can: what this site’s pages do, and what the provider necessarily sees.
Who runs this site
Compress Images is run by Marlow Ridge Software, which is the operator this policy is about. Questions about this page, or a correction to it, go to support@compress-images.online.
What the hosting provider sees
This section describes what this site’s pages do and what whoever serves them necessarily sees. It keeps the two apart, because only the first part is ours to promise.
The site is a folder of static files with no database and no application server. Every page is a static HTML file, and there is nothing on the site that writes a record when you ask for one. When your browser loads a page, something has to process that request in order to hand the file back, so whoever serves it necessarily sees your IP address, the browser and its version, the file you asked for and the time of the request.
This site does not know what a provider does with that request afterwards. A CDN and a web host each publish their own data processing and log retention terms, and this policy does not restate them because it has not checked them and they are the provider’s to state, not ours. If you need to know how long a request record is kept, that is a question for the provider, and the answer is not written here. None of it contains your image, because we never receive one.
Analytics, cookies and error reports
This site has no analytics, no advertising, and no cookies of its own. It reports no errors either: there is no error-reporting code on any page, so nothing about a failure is transmitted anywhere. Nothing you do here is shared with a third party.
What is stored in your browser
Nothing, which is worth stating precisely rather than in one word. The file you choose is read with the File API, converted in a Web Worker on your device, and released when you choose a different set of files or leave the page. The settings you pick (format, quality, size, target) live in the open page and are gone when you close the tab. This site writes nothing to IndexedDB, no Cache Storage and no cookies, so there is no copy of your file or of your settings left behind for the next visit to find. Your browser’s own cache may hold the WebAssembly codec files this site serves; that is your browser keeping a site file, not this site keeping your file.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. The operator’s contact address above is the way to ask which version you are reading.
